Posted articles, videos and self-selected stories or books.
Course Description:
This course is designed to explore the scientific study of human movement, integrating key concepts from anatomy and physiology. Through an in-depth examination of the musculoskeletal system, neuromuscular junctions, and cardiovascular and respiratory contributions to exercise, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the biomechanics, motor control, and adaptations to physical activity. The course aims to equip future educators, coaches, and health professionals with the knowledge and skills to apply principles of kinesiology in various settings, promoting physical health and performance.
Learning Outcomes/Competencies:
At the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of the structures and functions of the human body, with a focus on those most pertinent to movement and physical activity.. InTASC 4
- Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to analyze and explain the biomechanics of human movement, including locomotion, posture, and exercise. InTASC 5
- Develop the ability to design, implement, and assess physical activity programs that are safe, effective, and based on scientific principles of kinesiology. InTASC 7
- Advocate for and promote health and physical activity in educational, community, and healthcare settings, utilizing evidence-based kinesiological practices. InTASC 1
