Course Description:

This course explores how to bridge the gap between cognitive theory and the real-world classroom environment. The course text, Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning , delivers an up-to-date review of research-based teaching techniques that can be implemented by faculty in any discipline. Teachers will gain an abundant amount of knowledge in simple interventions that can be implemented into pre-existing curriculum. Students will learn how to retrieve knowledge from memory, use mindful practice to build cognitive skills, and make meaningful connections to course content.
