This course explores how to bridge the gap between cognitive theory and the real-world classroom environment. The course text, Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning , delivers an up-to-date review of research-based teaching techniques that can be implemented by faculty in any discipline. Teachers will gain an abundant amount of knowledge in simple interventions that can be implemented into pre-existing curriculum. Students will learn how to retrieve knowledge from memory, use mindful practice to build cognitive skills, and make meaningful connections to course content. Lastly, through this course, teachers will be able to build a community in their classrooms that will foster the motivation to learn!
