Course Description:
Raising expectations is a class designed to address how to identify and implement a new set of standards in the classroom. These standards are designed to be easily implemented into a classroom and are based on real strategies and assessments already being used in classrooms, demonstrated by real-life examples. At the core of this course is the concept that students need to be pushed to excel by teaching what matters most.
Learning Outcomes/Competencies:
At the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Judge the effectiveness of using authentic learning to demonstrate content mastery. InTASC 1,8
- Identify and describe the 4 responsible standards and why they are needed today. InTASC 1,2,3
- Develop strategies that can be used immediately in the classroom to raise student achievement. InTASC 6,7,8
- Create assessments that accurately reflect the goals of the 4 responsible standards. InTASC 1,2,3,5,6,7,8
- Provide a framework for change that can be implemented throughout the school or district to help raise the overall achievement of the school. InTASC 9,10
